Labrador is medium-sized. It weighs between 27 and 40 kg, and its height at the cross is 5 to 59 cm, being the smaller and less heavy females.
Its fur is short, smooth, rough, compact and bright, which differs radically from the golden fur, whose softness and length are absolutely different, is one of the most obvious differential characteristics between the two breeds. The color of its fur can be three uniform colors: black, chocolate and yellow. The latter color is the most prone to variations in shades, ranging from very pale cream, almost white, to reddish tones.
The dog Golden Retriever is a little larger and thinner than the Labrador, although the length of its fur creates an optical illusion on the contrary. The height at the cross varies between 51 and 61 cm, and its weight ranges from 27 to 37 kg, with females being smaller and lighter than males.
This breed of dog has a beautiful double layer. The surface is silky, wavy, moderately long and water resistant. The inner hair is soft and short, isolating the dog from the heat and protecting it from the cold. Its correct color is included in the different shades of gold, excluding the too pale and reddish. This breed changes at least twice a year and, as we mentioned in the previous point, the main difference between Labrador and Golden is in the length and volume of its fur.
The English Golden Retriever has differentiated over the years in two ways: American and Canadian. Both varieties are larger than English varieties.
