Like any other animal in the wild that needs its parents to survive, the baby pigeon requires almost continuous care. Therefore, it is essential to provide you with a safe, quiet and warm place to rest and grow, to provide specific food to your species and, if you need to take care of it at an early stage, contact a recovery center that admits pigeons. that after this stage, you can join other pigeons and learn from them.
In the first days of the life of a newborn pigeon, when it is with its parents, will bring warmth and a pleasant atmosphere. When we act as their caregivers, we should place the pigeon chick in a large cardboard box with a newspaper at the bottom, which makes it easy to clean, put a kind of net in which the chick can hold its legs keeping the joints, without distorting them, as well as a small blanket arranged in the shape of a bowl to make you feel comfortable.
The net and holster are essential because they help the legs grow in the right position without deforming. Under no circumstances should rodent substrates or cat litter be used as a bed for a baby pigeon.
The box for the newborn pigeon pigeon should be placed in a quiet place of the house, avoiding direct sunlight, air currents and very strong heat sources, such as a radiator. You have to offer a soft warmth, like a small bag of hot water wrapped in a sock.

Pigeons are birds that feed on seeds and fruits. Newborn chicks and pigeons of three days or less are fed by their parents with a substance called “baby milk”. This “milk” is nothing like milk produced by mammals. It is an epithelial secretion with enzymes that occurs in the harvest of adult pigeons. Under no circumstances should we give mammalian milk to a bird because it will not be able to digest it, which can cause intestinal problems and probably death.
Since we cannot produce this “harvest milk”, it is possible to find on the market brands of food paste for parrots, which contain these necessary enzymes during the first three days of life of a pigeon.
At first, this food should be more diluted. It must be thickened from the tenth day of life. Before feeding our pigeon, it must be at a warm temperature (not hot!), and we should never give it cold food, because this way the pigeon will not be able to digest it and will eventually die. In an emergency, you can feed a pigeon porridge for human babies, mixing it with warm water (not milk) and making sure it does not contain dairy solids.
